Climate change affects 8 million Kenyans (15-20%) directly, exposing them to adverse climate effects, rising temperatures, unpredictable weather patterns, and environmental degradation threatening communities. Many individuals and businesses lack awareness of carbon credit opportunities and sustainable practices that could mitigate these challenges while offering economic benefits. More than 50% of Kenya’s population lacks financial literacy, which further limits access to green financing, preventing communities from investing in climate-smart solutions.
Smart Afrogrics' Carbon Credit Class initiative seeks to bridge this gap by educating communities on climate change mitigation, carbon credits, and green entrepreneurship. Through structured training sessions, participants will learn how to reduce carbon emissions, adopt sustainable practices, and leverage carbon credits as an economic incentive. By integrating financial literacy, the program will also empower participants with knowledge of green financing options, enabling them to access funds for climate-friendly initiatives.
